2 people killed, 1 injured overnight in south Kansas City

UPDATE 12:29 p.m., May 19 | KCPD identified the homicide victims Tuesday afternoon. The shooting victim who died at the scene as 25-year-old Tevin Grimmett and the shooting victim who died at the hospital as 21-year-old Victor Garrett.

The unidentified female is in stable condition, according to police.

ORIGINAL STORY | Kansas City, Missouri, police said an argument led to a shooting where two men were killed and a woman was seriously injured early Monday morning.

Chief of Police Rick Smith said detectives were getting some cooperation from people in the complex to help them identify a suspect.

A spokesperson from the Kansas City, Missouri, police department said dispatchers sent officers to the Willow Creek Apartment Complex in the 9900 block of Walnut Street to investigate the sound of gunshots.

The call came in just after 1:30 a.m. on Monday.

KCPD officers arrived to find a man dead inside the building and a woman seriously injured inside an apartment unit. She is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Another man was driven to the hospital by private vehicle and was declared deceased there.
