KCPD releases photo of suspect in deadly hit-and-run at bus stop

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police on Thursday released a photo of the suspect they are looking for in a deadly hit-and-run.

Police are seeking Nicholas S. Hammond in connection to the crash that happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at the bus stop near 67th Street and Troost Avenue.

Police said a gray Chevrolet Impala veered off the road and into the bus enclosure, where a man had been sitting on a bench. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Mark Hovey, of Kansas City, Missouri.

Police said Hammond should be considered armed and dangerous.

If you see him, do not approach him, but rather call 911.

KCATA said a new shelter should be completed by the middle of next week.
