One killed, five injured in four-vehicle crash on I-435 in Overland Park Friday night

OVERLAND PARK, Ks — UPDATE: August 31, 12:19 P.M. | The Overland Park Police Department says four vehicles were involved in a collision on westbound I-435 near the US-69 interchange that resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries on August 28th at 8:37 p.m.

The crash occurred when the first vehicle traveling westbound on I-435 attempted to exit on the US-69 interchange.

The driver crossed the area separating the lanes and struck the crash cushion.

That impact caused a multi-vehicle collision on the off-ramp to US 69 Highway.

The driver of that first vehicle, Cynthia Aziere of Lee's Summit Mo. died in the crash.

Five additional occupants were transported to an area hospital, four of those suffered broken ribs.

Three individuals were uninjured, two were evaluated and released at the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing.

ORIGINAL STORY | The Overland Park Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that happened on Westbound I-435, west of Antioch Road, just before the US-69 Hwy exit.

Officers have shutdown the right two lanes, as well as the exit to US-69 Hwy for both Northbound and Southbound lanes from Westbound I-435.

OPPD is urging drivers to avoid the area at this time.
