KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A recent lawsuit alleges a 12-year-old girl was raped by a boy in a school bathroom after a teacher failed to supervise their return to the classroom.
The girl’s mother filed the lawsuit in federal court Thursday against Olathe Public Schools, the school board and the student who allegedly assaulted her daughter.
According to the lawsuit, the victim and the boy finished an assignment in the common area at Pioneer Trail Middle School in 2015 and a teacher sent them back to the classroom unsupervised.
The lawsuit says the boy pulled the victim into a boy’s bathroom and raped her. The victim told a teacher later that day and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
A spokesperson for the school district declined to comment Friday, citing pending litigation.
