Lee’s Summit elects first black woman to school board

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lee’s Summit voters elected the first black person to the local school board Tuesday when Megan Marshall received the most votes in a crowded field.

There were nine candidates running for three seats on the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Board.

Marshall’s 6,783 votes, including Jackson and Cass counties, which were the most among any of the candidates.

Kim Fritchie and Kathy Campbell also won election to the school board.
