KANSAS CITY, Mo. — No injuries were reported in an early morning Lee's Summit house fire, but officials are also investigating a small marijuana grow operation.

Emergency crews were called to the 1500 block of NE Ivory Lane just before 4:30 a.m.

Firefighters reported heavy smoke on arrival, and quickly determined the basement fire significantly weakened the floor above.

Crews then attacked the fire from a defensive position outside.

After the fire was extinguished just before 6 a.m., officials discovered a small marijuana grow operation in the basement near where it's believed the fire originated.

A second marijuana grow operation was also discovered upstairs in the home.

The Lee's Summit Special Investigation Unit is conducting a follow-up investigation.
