A Lee’s Summit teen received the 2016 Community Changers Award on Sunday.

Lorenzo Harrison won the award after he gave Royals home opener tickets to a young child battling cancer.

According to Harrison’s website, he had no idea that paying it forward would be such a big deal. He said he simply wanted to be a blessing to others instead of selling the tickets.

The U Church gives out the award every year to recognize members of the community. Harrison will also receive money from the church to donate to his organization, which gives away scholarships to high school students in May.

Harrison created a hashtag called, #lorenzogivesbackkc, to encourage the spirit of giving in the community.
