KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Lexington man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 near Bates City Saturday afternoon.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said that just after 12:30 p.m. William M. Lichius, 50, of Lexington, was driving a 2010 Land Rover westbound when he was hit from behind by a 2000 Kenworth semi.

The impact pushed the Land Rover off the north side of the roadway into an embankment and the vehicle overturned.

Lichius was pronounced dead at Centerpoint Medical Center.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

This is the 40th traffic fatality the Missouri Highway Patrol has worked this year.
