KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 19-year-old Liberty man faces one count of making a terrorist threat in connection to a social media post about a mass shooting.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that Nicholas S. Brown has been charged in Clay County Circuit Court with making a terrorist threat in the first degree.

The charge comes after a cooperative agreement involving the sheriff’s office, Liberty Police Department and the FBI.

“Brown was arrested last week after law enforcement officials were made aware of the threat involving a mass shooting posted on social media,” the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office said on Facebook that the case isn’t “related to the recent Walmart or Reddit investigations by other agencies.”
