KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Interim Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota and Jackson County Legislature Chairman Daron McGee announced the release of $35 million in funding for Nonprofit Partnership Grants.
The money will go to local nonprofits and service providers, many of which are running low on money due to the federal government shutdown.

Legislator Manny Abarca IV expressed cautious optimism regarding the release of the funding.
“I was assured applicants within the initial round of applications will be prioritized, as they have waited too long to get the support they needed long ago,” Abarca said. “It is my goal to see catalytic programmatic and infrastructure efforts supported with these grants.”
Eligible organizations may apply for up to $1.5 million to support work serving residents throughout the county.
Jackson County will host three informational sessions for applicants:

• Tues., Oct. 28: Palestine Senior Center — 3325 Prospect Ave., Kansas City, Missouri, 64128
• Wed., Oct. 29: Longview Community College — 500 SW Longview Road, Lee’s Summit, 64081
