KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man who admitted to police in 2014 that he intentionally struck a 15-year-old boy with a vehicle entered an Alford plea on Monday.
Ahmed Aden, 39, faced the following charges in 2014 for the incident that killed Abdisamed Sheik-Hussein: first-degree murder, armed criminal action, leaving the scene of an accident and unlawful use of a weapon.
The plea, meaning he believed there was enough evidence to convict him at trial, was in relation to second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges. The other two charges were dismissed.
Aden is expected to attend a sentencing hearing at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 4, 2020.
