A 19 year old has been charged in connection with a reported rape and kidnapping in east Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced on Friday.
Omar Lopez-Maldonado faces rape, sodomy, kidnapping, assault and tampering with a vehicle charges.
According to court records, the victim was in front of a home on the 1200 block of Fremont Avenue on Jan. 19 when two men woke her up and got into the vehicle, telling her a friend had told them to drive her away.
Both men raped and sodomized the victim, holding her at gunpoint, then drove back to the areas of of 12th and Fremont when a witness tired to intervene, court records showed.
The men fired a gun, shooting out the car glass and left the scene.
Officers were able to trace the suspects and their vehicle in a picture on social media to the defendant after she reported the rape.
The case remains under investigation.
Prosecutors have requested a $250,000 bond.
