Man charged in KCPD pursuit, officer involved shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The man who caused Kansas City, Missouri, police toinitiate a pursuit and fire their weapons on Tuesday has been formally charged.

William L. Brown, 35, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

According to police, Brown was observed driving erratically near Independence Avenue and Prospect Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

KCPD officers attempted to stop Brown, but he continued to drive erratically and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued into an industrial area where Brown allegedly turned his vehicle around and drove directly at officers in an alley.

At that time, the officers discharged their firearms, according to police.

Brown was not shot, but was taken to the hospital with minor lacerations from broken glass.

No officers were injured during the incident.
