Man critically injured after being hit by a car Wednesday night in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 68-year-old man sustained critical injuries after being hit by a car Wednesday night in Kansas City, Missouri.

The incident happened about 6:10 p.m. on Northwest Prairie View Road near Northwest 83rd Street.

Police said the man crossed Northwest Prairie View Road, ran up a small, grassy embankment and onto southbound Interstate 29.

He managed to cross the highway, but could not get over the barriers with fencing on top in the middle of the highway.

The man, whose name has not been released, ran back across southbound Interstate 29, down the embankment and onto Northwest Prairie View Road.

A Ford Taurus hit the man as he tried to cross the road.

The driver of the Taurus is not expected to face any charges.
