After shots fired, standoff, suspect not in house

UPDATE:AUGUST 26, 9:00 A.M. - After a long period with no phone contact, police obtained a search warrant and entered the residence at about 8:30.

After searching, no one was found inside the home.

Relatives tell 41 Action News than man is 35 year-old, and has some mental issues.

Police are now searching for the man.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call police. 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - About 1:00 a.m. Sunday a man reportedly fired shots outside a home in the 1800 block of Topping, then went into a house and is refusing to come out.

Negotiators are on scene, and are working to get the man to come out peacefully. 

Police evacuated several residences nearby, and escorted people to safety when they arrived on scene.

No one was injured from the gunfire.

Topping Avenue is closed in both directions in the area.
