Man flees DUI check lane, but caught hours later

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. - Officers deployed stop sticks as a man aggressively entered a sobriety check lane Friday night, then fled the scene, his vehicle was quickly recovered, but the suspect was not caught until early this morning.

The DUI check lanes was set up near K-10 and Evening Star roads about midnight, when an aggressively driven vehicle entered.

Officers deployed stop sticks, and the vehicle was recovered near Cedar Creek Parkway.

The driver, a white male approximately 30 years old, 6-1", 185 pounds wearing a white t-shirt and light blue pants fled on foot.

Johnson County, Lenexa, Overland Park, Kansas City and the Missouri Highway Patrol began an extensive search of the area.

The suspect was located several hours later walking on a roadway, and was taken into custody without incident.

He has not yet been formally charged.
