Man charged after allegedly leading KCPD on high-speed chase

KANSAS CITY, Mo. UPDATE 6:30 PM 4/10/2018: A Kansas City man is facing multiple felony charges after leading police on a 45-minute high-speed chase.

Ryan Lilly, 32, is charged with third-degree assault, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting a lawful stop and first-degree property damage.

A man is in custody after a police chase crossed the state line Monday afternoon. 

Kansas City, Missouri police said around 4 p.m., a white truck struck an occupied police car near 34th and Lawndale. The officer wasn't injured, but the car was heavily damaged. 

A viewer sent surveillance footage to 41 Action News that showed the driver evading officers near where the chase began.

 

 

 

The truck fled the scene, and KC police officers gave chase. 

The driver led police to the rail yards in the West Bottoms, then went to Roeland Park, then onto I-35 south in the height of rush hour traffic. 

The driver then got off the highway near Oak Park Mall, where a passenger left the suspect vehicle. 

The driver then continued fleeing from police on I-435 and entered Kansas City, Missouri. 

Police were able to stop the driver with stop sticks on the entrance ramp to I-435 EB from Wornall Road.
