A man is in custody after a police chase that crossed state lines Thursday afternoon.
Police said a man in a red Mitsubishi Eclipse refused to stop for Independence police on traffic violations during the evening rush hour.
Independence officers chased the suspect into Kansas City, Missouri, but stopped chasing when the suspect drove into Kansas City, Kansas.
The car sped east down I-70 when Missouri law enforcement began to pursue the car.
The suspect exited the highway in Independence. He finally stopped the car and surrendered to police at 15th and Northern Avenue.
There were no reports of traffic accidents or injuries in the chase.
