KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A man is in custody and five children are safe after a standoff in Kansas City, Kansas, Tuesday morning.
KCK police were in a standoff with the man in the 300 block of Welborn Lake Drive. There were also five kids inside the house.
Police told 41 Action News the standoff started just after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said the man inside the house may have been high on narcotics and had been for several days.
He reportedly threatened to kill people.
A woman who was inside was able to get out and call the police.
Around 11 a.m., KCK police said the suspect was taken into custody and the children were safe.
