Man hit and killed by train in Grandview

Grandview police are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a train in the city on Saturday.

Police say a 43-year-old man was killed at around 2:50 p.m. Saturday afternoon on the 12000 block of Blue Ridge. 

He was found on the railroad tracks underneath the train. 

According to police, the train belongs to Kansas City Southern Railroad.

The railway company released a statement Saturday concerning the fatal collision:

At approximately 2:30 p.m. today, a train crew for The Kansas City Southern Railway Company saw a man sitting on the tracks in Grandview, Mo.  The train was not able to stop in time and the man was fatally struck.  The train crew was not injured.  The cause of the incident is under investigation.
