UPDATE 2/12/2017 2:50 P.M.: Police say the man killed in an officer-involved shooting Saturday night is Alonzo E. Ashley, Jr, 27.
Ashley lived at the residence where police say a man was firing a rifle at officers from his porch.
ORIGINAL STORY 2/11/2017:
Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in the area of 113th and Corrington Ave. Saturday night.
Officers responded to the area around 8:30 p.m. on a shots-fired call. When they arrived, they found a man on the porch of a home shooting a rifle.
Police say they told the man to drop the gun, but he pointed it in their direction and officers shot him. The suspect died at the scene.
No officers were injured.
Police were unsure if anyone else was in the home, so they initiated a standoff until the home could be cleared.
