Man killed when semi strikes unoccupied vehicle on I-70 in Lafayette County

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man is dead after a crash on Interstate 70 near mile-marker 44.8 in Lafayette County, Missouri.

Just after 11 p.m. Thursday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said a semi struck an unoccupied Dodge Magnum that was parked on the shoulder of the road.

The semi went off the interstate, down an embankment and overturned, according to MSHP.

Eddie Hughes, 47, of Florissant, Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene.
