Man shot, killed in 2800 block of Mersington in Kansas City, Missouri

Police are investigating a homicide after a man died of an apparent gunshot wound Friday morning.

At 5:46 a.m. dispatch received a report of a shooting in the 2800 block of Mersington in Kansas City, Missouri.

Upon arrival, officers observed a black male victim in his 20s in the street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. KCFD responded and pronounced the man deceased.

The man was later identified as 29-year-old Brandon Johnson. 

Currently, detectives are taking photographs and canvassing the area for evidence, as well as asking anyone if they heard or saw anything.

27th to 29th Street and Cleveland to Myrtle were shut down while police work.

According to police, this is Kansas City's 74th homicide of 2016. If anyone has any information, call 816-474-TIPS.
