A Kansas man capsized his boat early Saturday morning along the Missouri River.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says James Pyle, 48, of Atchison, Kan., had anchored his 24-foot boat along the shore of the Missouri River in Platte County as he was attempting to steer the boat into the current.

During the maneuver, the boater lost his footing and hit the throttle, thrusting the boat aground before the boat turned portside. The boat started to take on water before capsizing.

Troopers were able to recover the boat.

Pyle was uninjured in the incident.
