UPDATE: According to police, the suspect surrendered without incident around midnight and was transported to the Jackson County Detention Center for booking. The standoff lasted five hours.

Negotiators with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department were called to assist in a standoff involving a suspect with an active Jackson County felony warrant on Saturday night.
Officers were called to the 800 block of Newton Avenue in regards to a suspicious person with a gun and selling drugs around 7 p.m.
When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a suspect entering a home and was able to identify him as a man with an active Jackson County felony warrant for failure to appear.
The suspect refused to exit the home, officials said.
Negotiators were called to the house.
