RAYMORE, Mo. -- A group of masked men attacked and hospitalized a Raymore couple at their home Thursday morning, according to police.

Capt. Jim Wilson of the Raymore Police Department said a Raymore man was walking to his car in the driveway when three men walked up, forced him back inside the house and attacked him and his wife.

Police had a stretch of S. Adams Street blocked off in the neighborhood just north of the Raymore Recreation Park.

Police did not immediately confirm if the attackers stole anything from the home, the vehicle or from either victim. But they did refer to the incident as a home invasion robbery.

"We hope to find out more from both of the victims as we get more information from them," explained police Chief Jan Zimmerman.

Both victims are expected to recover.

Zimmerman stressed the neighborhood is safe. She said early results from the investigation lead detectives to believe the masked men targeted this specific home.

"We are canvassing the neighborhood fairly extensively to see if there are any witnesses, or anyone who saw something suspicious in the neighborhood before this occurred," Zimmerman said. "We are here and we are vigilant, so I would tell residents my officers are out here and they are safe."

Neighbors of the victims had questions about what happened. Many told 41 Action News they will have a heightened sense of awareness following the attack.

"It was a concern, obviously for the safety of all the kids and all of the families in our neighborhood, it was a concern," Ashley Blevins said.

There was no immediate suspect description. Police are asking people in the area to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
