KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The picture is becoming clearer about who will be Laura Kelly’s successor as Kansas governor after Tuesday’s primary election.

The Associated Press reports Ty Masterson won the Republican primary, beating out Phillip Sarnecki, Vicki Schmidt, Scott Schwab, Charlotte O'Hara, Stacy Rogers and Nick Reinecker.

Cindy Holscher won the Democratic primary with 48% of the vote, per unofficial election results.

Masterson and Holscher go head-to-head on Nov. 3 in the general election.
