Megabus will no longer offer rides to and from Kansas City.

A company news release stated that starting on September 30, 2015, Megabus will no longer offer rides to Kansas City or Columbia, Missouri.

According to Sean Hughes, Director of Corporate Affairs for Megabus.com North America, customer demand in these cities has been steady declining, which made the company decide to cancel bus services.

The release says any reservations will be refunded in full to the card used to make the purchase within 3-5 business days.

A change.org petition has been started to keep Megabus routes in Kansas City and Columbia.

In the Mid-Missouri Area, Megabus.com is the most accessible form of intercity bus service for three college and universities (Stephens College, Columbia College and the University of Missouri) serving over 37,000 students and over 100,000 permanent residents in the Columbia, Missouri area. In the Kansas City area, the loss of the city-to-city service route from Columbia, MO, Saint Louis, MO and Chicago, Illinois will have a drastic economic impact that is to be determined.

As of 4 p.m., there were more than 130 supporters who signed the petition.
