The Metropolitan Community College issued an alert regarding a suspicious person reported at the Penn Valley Science and Technology building after someone assaulted a woman at 11 a.m.
The suspicious person is described as a black male, with a thin build and approximately 5’5” to 5’7.” He was seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and black and green Jordan tennis shoes.
MCC police are investigating.
According to Campus Police Chief Londell Jamerson, the suspect asked the student about the election. She was texting and ignored him. He then grabbed her by the neck and tried to pull her into the bathroom.
“She was very alarmed, not hurt,” Jamerson said. “But she did immediately go to the police station, which we ask all of our students to do. And if they see something suspicious, say something.”
Students on campus told 41 Action News the incident has them on heightened alert.
"It is really upsetting, devastating,” said freshman Jesse Dirks. "I think we all have to be on much higher alert now to take care of each other and look out for the rest of those students and call out harassment when we see it."
The police investigation continues.
