More than 200 employees to be laid off at Lenexa JCPenney center

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — More than 200 people will be out of a job in Lenexa according to a state filing.

According to the WARN Act notice filed Thursday, 243 employees will be laid off at the J.C. Penney customer care center on Lackman Road

JCPenney said the company plans to close the center.

The company issued the following statement on the closure:

"To centralize call center operations and deliver streamlined service to our customers, JCPenney will be closing the Lenexa call center."

JCPenney said employees were notified of the changes in person.
