KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Missouri State Highway Patrol dive team recovered the body of a drowned man Wednesday at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Deputies from Troop F responded around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday to the report of an overturned canoe around mile marker 19 at the Lake of the Ozarks.
A 28-year-old man in the canoe was able to swim to safety, but another man — later identified as 24-year-old Somodd R. Kong of Osage Beach, Missouri — remained missing and initial searches were unable to locate him.
The MSHP Dive Team resumed search and recovery operations at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The man’s body was recovered around 1:10 p.m. in 17 feet of water, according to Troop F’s Twitter account.
The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Somodd Kong of Osage Beach, Missouri.
