KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nearly 6,000 gallons of wastewater overflowed from a broken sewer pipe on North Mersington Avenue Friday, according to KC Water.

Crews were called to 4104 N. Mersington Ave. at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon after a 10 inch sewer pipe broke between two manholes.

An estimated 5,925 gallons of wastewater surfaced and entered into Buckeye Creek.

The sewer pipe was also exposed due to erosion in the creek.

Repair crews set up bypass pumping to remove sewage from the creek.

The leak was repaired at 8:35 p.m. Friday night.
