KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An opening date has been set for the Loews Convention Center Hotel, the newest addition to the downtown skyline in Kansas City, Missouri.
A spokesperson for Loews Hotels confirmed to 41 Action News the new 23-story hotel at 16th and Wyandotte streets will open on April 2, 2020.
The hotel, which will feature 800 guest rooms, including 47 suites, will not be open in time for the 2020 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship, which had been a goal for developers.
The 650,000-square-foot hotel will have two ballrooms and a walkway connecting it to Bartle Hall, along with meeting spaces, two restaurants, a fitness center, spa and indoor pool.
Construction on the project began in January 2018.
The company’s upscale hotels are also located in cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Miami and Boston.
