KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Zoo welcomed the latest addition to its giraffe herd last week with the birth of a female baby giraffe.
Lizzie the giraffe gave birth to the calf on Sept. 3. The giraffe was 111 pounds and stood 5 feet 6 inches tall at birth.
The latest giraffe, who is still looking for a name, joins Dixie, born in February 2018, and Maxwell, born in September 2018.
Combined with Lizzie’s mother, Mahali, who remains at the KC Zoo, there are three generations of one giraffe family at the zoo.
The new calf made her public debut Thursday.
