According to several popular auto websites, January 1 may be the absolute best day to purchase a new vehicle.
TrueCar.com told USA TODAY they predicted dealers to offer an average 8.6% discount off the sticker price Friday. Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds.com have followed with similar sentiments, stating that the last week of December usually offers the best deals.
Although many lots in Kansas City were closed on Friday, many appeared to be open and willing to offer their best deals of the year.
"At the beginning of the year, there's a lot of great financing incentives, especially for first time buyers,” said Danny Zaslavsky, who runs Country Hill Motors in Merriam.
Zaslavsky said they certainly put their best prices forward this time of year and offer market pricing they guarantee to be the most competitive within a 500 mile radius.
His used dealership is even currently offering a lifetime powertrain warranty on certain purchases.
Hendrick Cadillac in Missouri was also pleasing new customers Friday afternoon as well.
Pre-owned Sales Director Chris Sheets gave another reason January 1 is particularly a great day to buy in the Show Me State.
“In Missouri it's the day after your tax penalty, so if you buy a car on the 31st of December you have to pay taxes on the car that next year.”
Some Kansas City dealers are offering specials through the holiday weekend.
