KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Firefighters said no one was home when a house caught fire at 3523 Indiana Ave. early Tuesday morning.

One firefighter described the house as a “fireball.” Capt. Chad Dailey said there was a strong fire on both floors of the house when firefighters arrived a little after 5 a.m. Tuesday. Flames spread from the house to houses on each side. Dailey said those two houses were vacant and damage appeared to be very minor.

Dailey said no one was hurt in the fire. He said the house can be saved.

Kansas City police confirmed they arrested a person at the address earlier in the morning on accusations of assault and property damage. Because the person hadn’t been formally charged, police did not release the person’s name.

Investigators from the fire and police departments are working together to determine what caused the fire.
