KANSAS CITY, MO. — A Shawnee, Kansas, police officer used his Taser on stabbing suspect Friday after a brief altercation while taking him into custody.
Officers were called to the 4900 block of Nieman Road to investigate a stabbing around 12:15 a.m.
A man reported being stabbed in the face and gave a description of the suspect who ran off.
An arriving officer located a potential suspect. The unarmed suspect immediately attacked the officer and a struggle ensued.
Eventually, the officer broke free and tased the man then took him into custody. He was taken to the Johnson County Detention Center in Olathe, Kansas.
The victim suffered critical but non-life threatening injuries, while the officer was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries and released.
According to the booking and release report, Cameron D. Leslie was arrested Saturday and charged with attempted premeditated first-degree murder and battery of a law enforcement officer causing bodily harm. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
