Officers search for fugitive in Olathe

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. - Officers searched overnight and early Saturday morning for a fugitive after he fled on foot from a stolen vehicle.

About 1:00 a.m. Wellsville Police officers pursued a stolen vehicle north of I-35 into Johnson county.

At about 1:07 Johnson County deputies deployed stop sticks, which caused the vehicle to rest near I-35 & Lone Elm Road.

After the stop the driver exited and fled on foot. Shortly after he ran, deputies in the area heard a single shot.

The driver is described as a balding white male, approximately 30 years old, wearing a black tank top and jeans.

Wellsville police, along with officers from Gardner, Lenexa, Olathe, Spring Hill, and Ottawa, The Johnson County Sheriff's Department, and troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol searched the area until 8:00 Saturday morning.

The suspect is still on the loose, and should be considered armed and dangerous.
