Officials investigate teepee set on fire at Haskell Indian Nations University

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A teepee was set on fire Saturday morning at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence.

A security guard at the university alerted the Douglas County Emergency Communications Center to the incident at 4:35 a.m., according to a news release.

Firefighters “extinguished a small amount of fire” on the teepee at Barker and East Indian avenues with a fire extinguisher, the release stated.

The university requested that an investigation occur.
