OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - An Olathe East teacher reportedly took his own life shortly after police served a search warrant at his home in connection with possible child porn.

John Derby, 46, was found dead in a field in De Soto Thursday, hours after Overland Park police seized his computer in connection with the investigation.

According to the Olathe East website, Derby taught metals, jewelry and ceramics at the school. He'd been at the district about a year. Before that he was an Associate Professor of Visual Arts at the University of Kansas.

No charges will be filed but the investigation is ongoing.
