Olathe teen dies days after falling from moving vehicle

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An Olathe, Kansas, teenager died Monday, two days after he fell from a moving vehicle in Lenexa, police said.

Ean J. Schulmeister, 17, died at the hospital as the result of injuries sustained in the incident, the Lenexa Police Department said Wednesday in a news release.

Lenexa police responded to a crash Saturday afternoon in the 20900 block of West 101st Street and found Schulmeister in the roadway with serious injuries.

Witnesses told police that Schulmeister had been riding in the backseat of a Jeep Wrangler, which was headed eastbound on 101st Street. A 15-year-old boy was driving and three other passengers were in the vehicle.

Schulmeister took off his seat belt and was standing up in the Jeep, which had its top and doors removed. according to witnesses. He fell from the moving vehicle onto the roadway, police said.

The driver of the Jeep stopped and called 911.

The incident remains under investigation by Lenexa police.
