KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person was arrested after protesters interrupted an event at the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Thursday evening, according to the school.

“The protest turned disruptive and after several warnings, the disruption persisted, and one protester was arrested,” UMKC said in an emailed statement.

The event featured conservative political commentator Michael Knowles, a repeat Fox News guest and host of “The Michael Knowles Show” on the Daily Wire.

Knowles said in a tweet that a person tried to squirt bleach on him during his speech.

Kansas City, Missouri, police said that officers responded to the scene at Royall Hall on East 52nd Street to assist UMKC police with the incident.

The event was hosted by the university’s College Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom groups, according to the event website.

The university said it would continue to gather facts about the incident and review campus policies and procedures.
