One arrested in May shots-fired incident on K-State campus

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person has been arrested in a May 9 shots-fired incident at the Kansas State University Foundation Building at Kimball and Denison avenues in Manhattan, Kansas, according to university police.

Erin Trent Boykin, 33, of Manhattan is being held at the Riley County Jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and criminal discharge of a firearm.

Boykin is not connected to the university.

The incident began off-campus on the east side of Manhattan and continued to the parking lot north of the foundation building, where shots were fired.

No one was injured in the incident. Additional charges may be pursued.

Multiple local law enforcement agencies, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Kansas Bureau of the FBI investigated the incident.
