KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 72-year-old man died Wednesday after his motorized wheelchair went into Brush Creek, Kansas City police said.

The accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. at Cleaver II and Benton boulevards. The man was reported to be in the creek "in several feet of water," police spokesman Capt. Lionel Colon said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not immediately clear what caused the wheelchair to go into the creek.

Police said Wednesday evening that foul play is not suspected.
