UPDATE: July19, 11:30 a.m.: Police said there were two separate crashes. About 1:25 a.m., a grey Honda HRV was traveling south on Interstate 35 weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed.
The Honda struck the right front of a white Chrysler 200 and fled. The Chrysler was able to stop south of the highway on the exit ramp to Broadway Boulevard.
The Honda went off the roadway to the left, and struck a large highway exit sign. The vehicle continued down the grassy embankment and overturned.
The driver was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Seatbelt use is unknown.
ORIGINAL | One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 35 at the Broadway Boulevard exit early Sunday.
Police said a vehicle was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control and hit a highway sign at the Broadway Boulevard exit around 2 a.m. Sunday.
One person was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead.
No other details have been released.
