1 killed in 4-vehicle crash on U.S. 24 Highway

CARROLL COUNTY, Mo. — One person was killed and another injured in a four-vehicle crash on U.S. 24 highway in Carroll County Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred on U.S. 24 Highway at Mo. 10 Highway just before 3 p.m. Friday.

Bradley J. Griggs, 57 of Hannibal, Mo. was killed in the crash when he ran into the back of a Chevy Malibu that was slowed in a construction zone, according to Missouri Highway Patrol.

Candice L. Smothers, 46 sustained moderate injuries in the crash.

Troopers said Griggs failed to slow for the traffic in the construction zone, hit Smothers' vehicle, which then hit a 2016 Dodge Ram, which hit a 2020 Chevy Equinox.

No other injuries were reported.
