Two killed in shooting late Sunday at 21st and Monroe, police say

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two men were found shot to death late Sunday near 21st Street and Monroe Avenue, according to Kansas City, Missouri, police.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., officers heard gunfire in the area and found a man who had been shot near a vehicle in an alley. A second victim was found near the intersection of 21st Street and Monroe Avenue, Kansas City Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jake Becchina said.

Officers rendered first aid, but EMS later declared both men dead at the scene.

Police later identified the victims as 31-year-old Montae Robertson and 27-year-old Steven Parsons.

Officers closed off several blocks in the area, and a K-9 officer also searched for possible suspects or evidence, Becchina said.

Anyone with information in the shooting is asked to contact the KCPD Homicide Unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest.
