KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person was killed and one seriously injured when the moped they were riding on was hit by a car on the Heart of America Bridge.
Around 10:42 p.m. Friday night, emergency crews were called to the northbound lanes of the bridge for a two vehicle crash.
Investigators said a blue Roketa moped was northbound, apparently with no working lights.
A red Ford Fusion also northbound, did not see the moped and drove over the back end, dragging the moped and occupants several feet.
The female passenger landed on the roof of the Ford, the driver in the roadway.
Both were transported to an area hospital, where the female was pronounced dead. The driver suffered life-threatening injuries
The driver of the Ford was not injured.
