KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person was killed and three others injured in a rollover crash at Interstate 70 and Stadium Drive early Sunday morning.

Kansas City, Missouri, police said a green Hyundai was traveling west on I-70 at a high rate of speed about 12:23 a.m. through a construction zone.

The driver apparently lost control and went off the roadway to the right, causing the vehicle to flip over multiple times.

One female — identified Wednesday as 14-year-old Hailey Jeffries of Independence — was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

A second male, who police said Wednesday was a 14-year-old boy, was partially ejected. He was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries and remains in life-threatening condition.

The driver suffered serious injuries and a third passenger was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

I-70 and Blue Ridge Cuttoff was shut down while investigators worked the crash.

The roadway was reopened at 3:00 a.m.
