1 dead in single-vehicle crash Wednesday on I-435 at I-70 in Kansas City, Missouri

UPDATE, July 10 | The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department identified the driver who died in Wednesday's crash.

The driver has been identified as Issac Alston, 38.

ORIGINAL REPORT, July 8 | One person died in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on northbound Interstate 435 near Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department said emergency crews were called to the scene shortly after 6 a.m.

Investigators determined the driver of a truck tractor-trailer heading northbound on I-435 from East Trafficway was weaving between two lanes of traffic before crashing into a concrete overhead sign support pole.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the reason for the weaving is under investigation.

The northbound lanes of the highway were shut down during a portion of the morning rush hour. All lanes were clear by 11:30 a.m.
